Select a Destination - may be a place you have stumbled on or have been recommended by friend. May be one in the Discount Book, where members can receive cheaper dining with a coupon.
Distance – Ideally a location within 30 km of the CBD is reasonable. Check availability for parking.
(It may be a Restaurant, Café, Hotel, Club [Working Man’s, Golf, etc] or any other suitable venue). You may ask your Events Coordinator or any Committee members for ideas.
- Test drive – A test run a week or so before, dining at the same time and day the dinner will be on is always an advantage. To establish quality of the food, and variety on the menu.
- Check payment options - Confirm that venue is able to charge individual meals and accept cash and cards. Some venues require a deposit for bookings of 20 or more.
- Check menu – Confirm menu offers vegetarian options for those who don’t eat meats.
( Vegetarian – old Indian term for bad hunter) - Start time – time to meet as a group will depend on:
- Distance members need to travel to venue.
- Cut off time for placing orders with kitchen.
- Closing time of venue.
- General rule is 7:00 p.m.
- Booking – as a rule of thumb, generally book for a group of TWENTY (ask venue what is the latest you can confirm numbers [e.g day before, on the day, etc].
