FUNDRAISER AT SPRINT AUTO PARTS NOARLUNGA

Although this was not a club event a big thank you goes out to those of our members who put their Corvettes on display at this event organized by the Chev club to raise money for the son of one of their members who has Leukaemia.
It encouraged many members of the public to come in and say hi and enjoy the sausage sizzle as well as visit Sprints.
Over $300 was collected and the Chev Club greatly appreciated our involvement.           Article by John Randell

SUPER CHEVY SUNDAY #23 2016

For all those car show lovers here we go again with mad February commencing with Super Chevy Sunday.
The organizers were presented with a perfect 31degree sunny day this year which resulted in an entry field of around 170 gleaming Chevs of all ages and to include several travelling over from Victoria. The Gleneagles oval looked a treat and the organizers again looked after everyone with the facilities they had available.
The line up of Corvettes was impressive with thirty six counted in total which was the largest group of any Chev product there taking up more than the one full line across the oval put aside.
The high standard of vehicles on display continued on from previous years and it is always hard to pick the best in any group when completing the entrant's choice votes. Unfortunately none of our club members were successful in being awarded any of the three trophies allocated in the Corvette category however Laurie won the early entrant raffle draw of $100 and Sean the "Billy Cart" stuffed with goodies in the fund raiser raffle. Congratulation to both.
Thank you to all those who attended from the Corvette Club of South Australia Inc. to help make the day a success.
A great day had by all who attended and we wish the Chevrolet Performance Association of South Australia Inc. every success in organizing the 40th Chev Nationals to be held in Mt Gambier over 21st to 24th October this year.           Article by John Randell

Attached are photos from the Mannum Hot Rod show last weekend, had a pretty good turn out from the club considering it was an impromptu gig, there would have been close to 200 cars and a hell of a lot of public foot traffic all in all a very relaxing day by the river for our club members. Goof has fitted an automatic push bar come shopping trolley ironing board to the rear of his car !

Karina & Lindsay's run to Clayton

Well finally Karina & Lyndsay got to do their first club run after having to change dates because of other events. Even now, their Corvette would not co-operate so out came the trusty old Pontiac Trans-Am (we won't do the joke about "What does Pontiac stand for" it did lead all the way). After leaving our meeting point & cruising up the Expressway, it was a fairly impressive sight with 11 Corvettes, 1 Pontiac, 1 Holden & 1 VW.
Stopped & had morning tea at Meadows & a browse around the markets. This gave KB a chance to climb under his Corvette, yes it seemed impossible but he did it to replace the nuts he had lost (and here I was thinking only squirrels lost their nuts, but apparently so do Koalas). Rod & Jenny came to the cruise driving Vic's car. We found out they had arranged with Shelia to surprise Vic & pick him up & bring him to Clayton for lunch with the rest of us.
On the way to Clayton Karina managed to uphold the club tradition of the "have to do a U-Turn". On arriving at Clayton we parked all the Vettes in front of the restaurant & settled in for a long lunch on the deck. It was great looking over the lake while enjoying good food, wine & friends.
Graham & Debbie brought along their new baby, a beautiful brown Kelpie & as we all know Graham has no taste as he is a Ford man. He at least redeemed himself by naming the pup CHEVY. Good on ya guys, mind you if you looked at Graham's console I think Chevy was telling him this is what's going to happen if he continues with Fords. It was a fantastic day and a big thanks to Karina & Lyndsay, we will look forward to your next run in the future.

NURI MOTHERS DAY RUN - May 2016

Mother's Day was a great reason to drag the Corvette out of the garage…...not that we ever need a reason. Neil Bailey was the cruise captain for this run out to Nuriootpa. Once everyone was at the meeting point it was time to head to the hills. Club protocols were strictly followed with the compulsory U-turn been actioned early in the run. Morning tea stop was at Lobethal which gave everyone's stomach a chance to settle down after contending with the windy roads. The stragglers (Breck & Helen) joined the group in Lobethal to bring the total number of Corvettes to 5 plus a Subaru and a Mazda. The predicted bad weather may have kept numbers down but Neil kindly organised for the torrential downpour to be delayed until the next day. From Lobethal we headed through Gumeracha where we encountered traffic chaos with the annual Medieval Fair in full swing. After clearing the congestion we enjoyed a pleasant cruise through the Barossa to our lunch destination at Nuriootpa. While waiting for lunch our President got in touch with his artistic side and created a self-portrait masterpiece with only a couple of colouring in pencils!! He did cheat to be honest, the 'Cute Koala' picture was already drawn and he only had to colour it in.
The Angus Park Pub dished us up a great lunch with servings large enough to feed a small army! They also had a special treat in store for all of the mothers who received a complimentary desert.
A great day out was had by all, thanks very much to Neil for organising such a relaxing day out!
