AJ wrote recently organising a run is easy.
Organise a meeting point, preferably with coffee, drive a bit, stop for tea/wee break, drive some more. Stop for lunch, fill your belly, have a couple of drinks if you wish, socialise with other club members, drive home. Simples!!
Sunday’s meeting point was Mr Nick’s Café in the Frewville shopping centre. Coffee and breakfast(stuffed capsicum for 1 member)for those who required it, then straight up the freeway to The Bend Race Track at Tailem Bend. Picked up a couple of strays on the way and met country members  Darle and Cheryl who ventured from Monash for the day. Driving from the Riverland doesn’t seem to bother them because they attended Cptn Blings Yorke Peninsula run last year. 1000km round trip in a C3. Good effort.
20 of us were booked into a 10 minute go kart session($30.00) at The Bend. After registering and filling out indemnity forms we watched a short safety video on the do’s and don’ts of karting. Do not hit other karts and do not go on the dirt otherwise there may be penalties.
Unfortunately XXXXXX and XXXXX didn’t take much notice because one  rear ended a couple drivers while trying to push past and the other thought the dirt might be a quicker way around the track. Luckily for both, neither were black flagged.
The kart track is of international standard approximately 1 km long with 12 corners. Karts are speed limited to 70km which you can reach half way along the main straight. They are amazingly fast, particularly through the corners. Much better than any indoor karts I’ve driven. 10 minutes gets you about 7 laps which let me wanting another 10 .
The venue is well set up with a viewing 1st floor balcony for those wishing to watch only.
After karting it was a short trip to the Welly Hotel on the banks of the Murray for lunch. Service was good, as was the food, coupled with a nice view and good company.
There 33 on the run plus the McPhee’s met us for lunch, so a great turn out. Thanks to everyone who came along.
The karts were fantastic and I’m planning another trip there, possibly towards the end of the year involving a longer session. $105 gives you 5 qualifying laps following by 3x 10 lap races. 10 people minimum required. Details will be in a future newsletter.
And the fastest lap time was recorded by -:
Cooper Ratsch( son of Stuart)
2nd fastest – Jim( you old hoon)
