XMAS AT THE McPHEE’S
On Saturday the 23rd November, the Club returned to having a Xmas Show. Firstly, I would like to say thankyou to my lovely wife Cathy. She had been reminding me for a number of days prior that we were only providing the venue and didn’t have to anything else for the evening. Oops I was wrong.
The evening kicked off at about 6.30p.m. (but a little bit earlier for some of us) with pre dinner nibbles and then a sit down for dinner at 7.30p.m.
It was great to see so many people make the effort (53 in fact with a couple of stragglers later in the evening) turn up for the night with a number of new faces present. It was also great to see Phil and Jan come along for the night. I think that just shows how strong this club is, with a lot of great fun people involved in the club.
The night was catered for by Golden Roast and I think there was enough food for everyone. Some even had seconds.
After everyone had a feed a very strange looking man in a red suit arrived. What was I thinking? It was Santa. Some people tried to tell me that it was someone called Wombat in disguise but I didn’t believe them. I will not be held responsible for any of the photos that were taken on Santa’s knee (I think it was his knee) because I think most of the photos have been photo shopped. Also, the presents that Santa provided were great, with a lot of different items wrapped up.
People started leaving from about 10.30 - 11.00pm with the last stragglers at about 12.30am. I guess there were a few that did have to drive back to the other side of town, so thankyou for coming.
I would like to thank a number of people who helped make the night a Great Club night.
Firstly my darling wife Cathy for her patience and support. To Pete, Lynda, Catherine and Jim who helped with the finishing touches for the night (i.e. decorations and nibbles) Brian Skipworth for the loan of some of the chairs. Maelyn and David for the presents the Santa gave to the guests. To Shiralee and Peter, thankyou for the lovely cake and bottle of wine that you gave Cathy and myself. I think you have made an impact in the short time that you have been with the club. How can I forget Santa aka Neil (Wombat) Portlock. How is your knee Neil?? To everyone that helped clean up and stack chairs at the end of the night. It made the clean up in the morning a lot easier.
All in all, it was a great night and I am sure that everyone had a great time. To those of you that didn’t make it, I think you missed out on a fun night. Please ensure that you have a Great Xmas and stay safe over the New Year.
Thanks,
