| Sunday 5th August saw what seemed to be the 2nd annual ‘Pub and Ferry Run’ and thinking by now we must’ve almost taken the club on every ferry (certainly not every pub!) in the state!
As is now the tradition with this run it began at our house in Littlehampton cause the Queen of the household doesn’t like getting up early for a club run on Sunday mornings, her theory being she can sleep while everyone makes their way to the start point, so I very carefully made sure she was awake for the 8:30 meet time cause the word had got around the club that no one wanted the job of waking Mrs N up early on a Sunday morning!

Coffee and Muffins were available  before we left as there was no designated morning coffee stop apart from ferry waits so takeaway cups were an option (pity Vettes don’t have cup holders).

9 am sharp saw  Beer-Smith’s & Alans C3, McBrides & McConnells C4’s, our C5 and a couple of daily drivers leave for what was to be an epic run as in length cause vettes are built to drive, we picked up another C5 on the way to the Freeway and then headed of for the first ferry at Mannum going via Monarto on what was the first of some great roads. We picked up Goof & Mel at the ferry in Mannum and once we crossed the river on the 1st ferry at Mannum we headed up the other side of the river to Ramco which was some 125 kms, then onto Cadell for the 2nd ferry, we didn’t all get on the ferry at Cadell so waited at the other side for the stragglers then made the short run to Morgan and The Terminus Hotel for lunch, by now the C3 big block made the wise decision to get a fuel top up in Morgan!

Lunch was great food was tasty and the dining room was an excellent spot to eat, lunch marked the start of the Pub theme and after lunch we headed over the 3rd and last ferry for the day and toured via Blanchetown to Sedan for the 2nd pub The Sedan Hotel Pub around 90kms.

The Sedan Hotel Pub was a friendly pub and turns out the publican remembers having the club visit in the past (wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not?), we also saw a couple of Vettes depart us here, after a 30 min beer stop we headed for the Totness Inn Hotel at Mt Pleasant via the Angus Valley Road and the first of the rain for the day as it had been fine and dry up until then, was getting fairly chilly too by the time we reached The Totness Inn Hotel at Mt Pleasant but thankfully the wood fire was going in the lounge area and we made the most of it!

After a beer and coffee stop at The Totness we all said our goodbyes and headed in various directions for home, it was a big day with varying reports of distances travelled from 350 to 500 kms whatever the distance it was a great driving day on some great roads in near perfect conditions.
